Faithful for low light, great focal length for DX, and autofocus see fit also work with D40, D40x, D60, and D5000 cameras
This Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX lens produces dapper pictures and great color and contrast. It is also consummate for portrait and other general purposes (semi-macro etc). This lens also produces exact bokeh. The picture quality and bokeh quality are comparable with the other Nikon prime lenses (50mm f/1.8, 50mm f/1.4, 50mm f/1.4 AF-S etc) lens which are honoured for being sharp. Overall, this is a very conversant lens. On a non full frame DSLR (such as D40, D40x, D60, D5000, D80, D90, D200, D300 etc), this 35mm focused length is equivalent to about 50mm which is considered a regular lens (normal as to being close to a person eye viewing seek perspective).Many of us, including those who already own the 50mm prime, press been waiting for this lens (prime lens that has wider side than the 50mm) for a long time, especially for non full originate DSLR owners that usually have on every side 1.5x magnification due to the smaller sensor size. Unassuming undistinguished little jewel of a lens
Nikon has yes nailed it with this lens. A modest sum gets you specifically what you need in a lens, nothing you don't, and it works smashingly. It is relatively feature-rich at its price: cheap lenses, plane from Nikon, often lack important features - but not here. Far apart from other recent DX bargains this lens has Nikon's M/A convergence setting, which allows automatic focus with jiffy manual over-ride. This is a simple and intuitive method of combining the forward and accuracy of AF with sometimes-necessary manual curb, and Nikon has done users of this lens a great favor by including it, notwithstanding the low price. It also features, less importantly, a correct metal mount and a gasket to keep dust ingress from occurring from head to foot the camera/lens interface. A couple of items do remain off: there is no focus distance scale, and as a consequence there is no bowels of the earth-of-field scale, an unfortunate omission that is nonetheless justified at the price point. This is a bargain lens, a no-brainer...

For $199 is it good hype?
Being a self proclaimed prosumer I'm not perfectly a pro, but I am still demanding when it comes to camera hardware (and software for that fact). I mention this because it puts this comment in the proper context.On to the lens...First off, when a $199 lens comes approximately from Nikon I have two thoughts, "Right on!" and "Seems catchy cheap for Nikon". Doolally good for the money
These are for anyone on a budget that wants to upgrade from that old tandem of travel binoculars or from Uncle Fred's 1954 yield-me-downs. They are *Waterproof* (very important, it's affable to confuse these with the lower-quality Nikon Influence range) and fogproof, with clear and bright images. Uncommonly solid feel and compact for a full-size Porro-prism form. The 7x35 version of the Action Extreme won the highest position in the Cornell Ornithology Lab 2005 binocular shootout out of 15 budget entries - as likely as not because the 8x40 was not tested.Yes, they aren't perfect - higher outlay will get you sharper optics, lighter weights, and to a certain better handling - but at this price the only different I could find is the Leupold 6x30 Yosemite for around 25% less - and that replica is a 6x magnification.I'm not sure why, but many sites don't cover the covenant on these. Able for birding
I am a extensive-time birder and have used several strange low- to mid-priced binoculars over the past 15 years. I bought these binoculars a month ago, attired in b be committed to taken them out on 8-9 birding trips and and own found them to be excellent in all respects.The binoculars are unwavering and well-balanced without being unduly stifling. The optics make for a very clear, bright typical example in all conditions. I particularly like that they attired in b be committed to three click-stop adjustments for the length of viewing, making it indulgent for people wearing glasses to get the right length. I also quite much appreciate the close-focus capability: respecting 9 feet, which is much closer than other pairs I must used and which makes them reasonably allowable for watching butterflies.I would recommend these to any birder.

Wonderful Sharp, Great Priced Binoculars!
I am SO chuffed with these binoculars. Great eye-relief for eye-plate glass wearers. Wide angle is as advertised, no tunnel-sight for sore eyes viewing! Thinking of buying a pair for my father for his boat. Front lens caps are a problem, but just succeed with hinged flip-top protectors like on sniper scopes and you're clever to go! Excellent product!

Does it's job: DIGITAL USERS Take heed!
This piece works excellently with the Celestron T-adapter, and indeed a cheap telescope. However, there's something that all Nikon DSLR owners should distinguish:I used this on my D200, and it was WAY tighter than I was suitable with. Lenses/adapters are not supposed to be this rigorous. I was terrified, putting it on. I almost chickened out.Also, this doesn't be undergoing the stops that the lenses do - this item make spin in the camera's lens bezel, until it can come out again at the next 1/6th turning.It didn't damage the camera, but it sure felt like it had the covert. Otherwise, it allowed me to take some great pictures, fast, with little learning curve, and a cheap compress with a 1.25" eyepiece.

Celestron T-Mount adapter for Nikon
I was a cheap worried about an adapter for Nikon because there secure been several different Nikon mounts over the years. I own disparate cameras - digital and film - so I was relieved that this adapter works in most of them. I can guarantee that it works for N80s, N90s, D80s and D90s. The downside is that I really don't hope for it to last as long as my cameras have.

Restrictive fit on camera, great fit on T-adapter and visual back
I like to effect a functions check on everything I buy right away virtuous in case there is a need to return it right away. This one looked casual. Slip it on like a lens and screw onto the T-adapter. When I went for it, the T-nimbus grabbed the camera like a vice. I then screwed on the T-adapter and spoken for the whole contraption to the telescope. It certainly felt fastened, so I have no apprehensions about using this setup with my camera. It was when I attempted to accompany off the ring that I found myself struggling a bit and drawn heard a somewhat unpleasant noise when the affiliation finally slipped off. I thought I'd damaged the camera, but a quick try out with a lens confirmed that all was fine. Not load to leave it there, I practiced a few more times and now consider comfortable hanging on to this item.
