Passionate for low light, great focal length for DX, and autofocus want also work with D40, D40x, D60, and D5000 cameras
This Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX lens produces sneaky pictures and great color and contrast. It is also unexcelled for portrait and other general purposes (semi-macro etc). This lens also produces polite bokeh. The picture quality and bokeh quality are comparable with the other Nikon prime lenses (50mm f/1.8, 50mm f/1.4, 50mm f/1.4 AF-S etc) lens which are distinguished for being sharp. Overall, this is a very well-informed in lens. On a non full frame DSLR (such as D40, D40x, D60, D5000, D80, D90, D200, D300 etc), this 35mm centred length is equivalent to about 50mm which is considered a general lens (normal as to being close to a person eye viewing bend perspective).Many of us, including those who already own the 50mm prime, compel ought to been waiting for this lens (prime lens that has wider side than the 50mm) for a long time, especially for non full scaffolding DSLR owners that usually have surrounding 1.5x magnification due to the smaller sensor size. Unassuming unassuming little jewel of a lens
Nikon has assuredly nailed it with this lens. A modest sum gets you literally what you need in a lens, nothing you don't, and it works marvellously. It is relatively feature-rich at its price: cheap lenses, temperate from Nikon, often lack important features - but not here. Different from other recent DX bargains this lens has Nikon's M/A well- setting, which allows automatic focus with instantaneous manual over-ride. This is a simple and intuitive method of combining the rest and accuracy of AF with sometimes-necessary manual supervision, and Nikon has done users of this lens a titanic favor by including it, despite the low price. It also features, less importantly, a formal metal mount and a gasket to keep dust ingress from occurring be means of the camera/lens interface. A couple of items do remain stay away from: there is no focus distance scale, and as a consequence there is no brightness-of-field scale, an unfortunate omission that is in any case justified at the price point. Being a self proclaimed prosumer I'm not word for word a pro, but I am still demanding when it comes to camera hardware (and software for that occurrence). Matchless indoor lens for Rebel XT
I didn't recollect it would be, but this lens winds up on my Rebel XT most of the stretch. The lens is compact and performs well indoors in low come out - best to use autofocus set to center point only. 35mm central length is a nice general purpose focal ultimately on a 1.6 crop DSLR.This lens is foxy at f2.0 and really sharp by f2.5-f2.8. I take a lot of experience and test my lenses with tripod/mirror lockup, I'm not precisely saying sharp at f2.0 - it IS sharp. I considered the 24mm f2.8, but f2.8 is a appealing slow prime at wider focal lengths - loses a lot of the low diverting dismiss advantage.I am impressed with the colors I have been getting from this lens, wasn't uncommonly expecting the colors to be so good at such a low price theme - doesn't have the L lens coatings, but Canon did the colors sort out.The autofocus speed is pretty good - not as fast as belt USM lenses - and it is a little noisy/buzzy.I currently own 7 Canon lenses (2 Ls) including 4 primes - this...

Wonderful Prime Lens for the Worth.
Bought this lens as a 'yardstick' prime lens for my Digital Rebel XT. What I institute was that it was a fast, sharp, and lightweight lens that made the camera huge for long walks. This would be the perfect lens to employ to an amusement park, hiking, or biking where assay and weight are a concern.I've also used this lens for macro photography and portraits where it shines. The F2 Bokeh is wonderful and center sharpness is miraculous even at F2, much better at F4 which is what I use most of the formerly.On the negative side, autofocus is noisy. To compare, it's like a downer-crazed wasp trapped in a matchbox. Maybe a mosquito buzzing not far from to your ear. It's not louder than the shutter, though. If this were a movie camera and I was trying to take candid shots, I'd complain more, but it's a 56mm equivelant lens.Another cancelling is build quality. Fine indoor and lowlight lens for Canon Digital Apostate
This is my lens of selection for indoor and campfire scenes were the ambient trifling is low and flash can not always be used. Similar high-end L lenses are too dear for me, and below-$600 zooms are too slow for these situations. 50mm primes are seemly for portraits, but you have to step too far back to capture more of the view, to 28-35mm seems to be the best on 1.6x cropped sensor cameras like Digital Dissenter.At $240, this lens provides great bang for the buck, but you get what you pay for, so there are a include of issues to consider:1. No USM. Auto-focus is slowly and noisy. Often hunts for focus, esp. in low light.2. No enchiridion override of auto-focus. Switching to MF is required to do vade-mecum focus adjustments.3. Cannot be used with any filters. I've wanted to use a warming trickle with the flash, and all the filters I've tried (including the darned expensive multi-coated ones from Hoya & Heliopen) matter ghost images and flares around any light...

Severe, moderate-contrast lens, but DX users might hiatus for 35mm f/1.8 AF-S
I extremely wanted to love this lens, but instead I condign like it. Perhaps I can explain some of the reasons for that in a stage, but first the positives.I think this is a beautifully-made brief gem of a lens. I love the way it's put together and the way it feels in use. These AF-D lenses were strongly criticized for their bod when they first came out, by photographers who were then second-hand to the heavy, all-metal construction of the AI/AI-S Nikkors. A little in the good old days b simultaneously having now passed, the light, undamped, nearly frictionless feel of the distinct ring seems just about perfect to me. The opening diaphragm has a flawless, beautifully symmetrical action, and the complete heft and appearance of the lens is substantial and gives an impress of very good quality at this lens' unexaggerated price point. I very much like having it on my camera. It is undersized, unobtrusive, and gives the classic "normal" field of regard on DX bodies such as my D90. It is, as others have said, a unswerving...

Shallow, fast, sharp, and as far as I'm concerned the perfect focal at long last.I started out using 50mm primes, but quickly got tired of how hazardous they were indoors. All my shots were meet head/shoulder shots, and forget about frustrating to get two or three people in the shot without them all being posed in an "every one squeeze together now" shot. That gets authentic old, real fast.Let me emphasize that:This lens has a much best field of view at normal shooting distances (the footage that you normally stand from your branch of knowledge).That is often overlooked, but trust me, backing up 15 feet in a herd or a house to get your shot is tedious at best, and continually impossible. It is typically easier to move in towards your disposed to a little (or crop the photo later) than it is to adhere to backing up, especially while looking into the viewfinder. A truly photographer's lens
The 35mm f/2 AF is something of a covert gem among Nikon lenses. It's a moderate wide angle for 35mm cover cameras and a 53mm-equivalent normal lens for APS-C format digital SLRs. Either way it's a well-known lens to have. If you're a traditionalist you will love it. Mounted on a DSLR it is simply like owning a 35mm film camera with a 50mm lens. You may level pegging wish to substitute the kit lens with one of these if you're buying a D80 or D200. If you are unqualifiedly set on a normal DSLR lens the only real alternate to the Nikon 35mm f/2 is the , which is one stop faster, but is also larger, heavier, more overpriced and optically less good at f/2 and beyond.If you're a technophile the Nikon 35mm is a smidgin harder to justify. Strict, fast, inexpensive
In olden days upon a time the 50 mm lens was THE standard camera lens and was THE optical benchmark by which manufacturers were judged and compared. Although the central lens focus has now shifted (at least at the low to mid amateur devastate) to zooms - you can still benefit from years of delving and development that went into designing the 50 mm lens and this here lens may be the most adroitly lens, dollar for dollar, that you can ever buy. The in doubt is can you afford not to own this lens?Years of development clothed brought us a lens that has a fast aperture of 1.8 - far faster than any consumer zoom lens - and that is fly as a filed tack. Be forewarned about the sharpness . . . if you are fascinating pictures of people, this lens is unyielding in its sharpness and may soundly surprise you and your subjects whose every spoil is captured. The lens has a fabulously shallow depth of green if you want to use the 1.8 aperture to blow out a background. This lens is also ridiculously cheap...

Most beneficent Value in Photography!
Wow! My theory now is that Canon doesn't put this toddler as their kit lens because many people would settle that they DONT NEED ANOTHER ONE! And uncountable of them would be right!Like others, I bought the Insurrrectionist XT and the 28-135 IS lens. The 28-135 is heavy and priced like a gold chum. I guess it does OK, and I do keep it mounted most of the culture.And like others, I stumbled on this lens high water, read the raving reviews, and for the price figured, "What the heck?"This lens in append sharp. It shows the fire in the colors you photograph. The astray aperture means candles can be excellent lights for portraits. Its meticulous field is great.There are pitfalls though. I snapped a pic of my puss at arm's length using autofocus a while back and (1) the spotlight locked on the tip of my nose and my face was already blurring (2) the lens was so penetrating that I saw blackheads clearly on my nose tip I can't really see in the send back (doh!). Saving except Value
I've had the 50mm f1.8 for respecting three months now, so I wanted to put in my two cents worth after a miniature field use. What originally attracted me to this lens was, indubitably, the price. It is very, very inexpensive. This is probably due to the fact that the housing is, unlike its predecessor the Heed I, entirely plastic. That initially put me off, but after seeing some images posted that had been infatuated with this lens (and after seeing the prices of the f1.4 and the Euphemistic pre-owned mark I)I decided that I really had nothing to displace. There are, as with most lenses good and bad elements to this lens. Lets start with the bad.Board in mind that if you are shooting a canon DSLR (as I am) this 50mm lens indeed behaves as an 80mm lens, so it isn't that terribly wide. The particulars that it is functionally 80mm can make framing shots a bit recondite. This is definitely a secondary lens and really isn't that apropos for a "walking around lens." Razor attentively and fast, but shows light falloff.
I am succeeding start by saying that I rate this lens as five stars _except_ for vignetting on squarely frame digital sensors at wide open apertures. I use this lens as my benchmark lens on a 5d. I find this angle of view to be absolute for general all around photography where I will "activity in" to the subject to get the shot. This lens requires more interaction with the subservient to, but I think it results in more dynamic pictures. This lens is razor observant, visibly sharper than my mainstay 24-70 f2.8 L zoom. On the 5d, I can slay at f1.4 ISO 400 indoors without a flash which is good-looking cool.Now the downside. All wide angles at wide unwrapped aperture have light falloff and even this lens demonstrates this partiality. You may not even notice this on many shots, but directed some conditions it is very obvious and this circumstances is more noticeable on digital than film. You can fix this using the distortion ooze in PhotoshopCS. If you shoot at f4 or better, the light falloff is not exceptional even...

L primes bypass!
It is as up-market as a 24-70L, and costs 4 times more than a 35/2. It is rooted length and "only" 2 stops faster. It is not noticably sharper at f4 and higher.But I twig I fall in love with it. I used a 85/1.8 and 135/2L for portrayal. I also have a 24-70L, 50/1.8II and a 18-55 kit lens. But I bring about that I need a wide and FAST lens to streak my kid/baby. I prefer to shoot with natural indoor light-footed. I read reviews and browsed pictures and decided that 35/1.4L is the one I call. Based on reviews and my experience with 50/1.8II, 35/2 is NOT usable untill you an end it to f4. That is too slow.I made the right decision. At f/1.4 it is moderate, but at f2.0, picture is pretty sharp. And most importantly, it maintains unusually good and natural color saturation which you won't get from Photoshop, as stream good contrast ratio. It is not very shart at f2.0, but color and conflict make pictures beautiful. Set ISO200 and 1/40th shutter bowl along, I can shoot without flash at f2.0. Wider...
