Outrageously simple, effective, and VERY loud alarm system
I combustible in an apartment and wanted to add an inexpensive alarm system that could around as a deterrent to intruders. I know that this GE system cannot substitute for a centralized alarm system in which authorities/protect are immediately notified, but I felt that the activation of a thunderous alarm could scare off an unsuspecting burglar and was far better than not having any alarm system. It could also come around with to wake you up at night as soon as a window or door is opened, giving you artificial seconds to call 911, freak out, pray, reach for your 9mm, etc. (I communicate this jokingly, but nevertheless, it is better than waking up to an unwelcome visitor by your bedside.)The main door unit is darned easy to set up. You unscrew the back and install 3 AAA batteries and program a 4 digit encode. You can also set the device to serve as a simple door chime, as a substitute for of an alarm if you desire. You mount the door device and its accompanying enthralling sensor to the door frame and to the door. The kit...

Door and Window alarms are unquestionably audible and effective.
After reading the reviews posted here, I was absolutely surprised at the loudness of the 3 window alarms. Perhaps the batteries were raw, because all of the window and the door alarms I received are piercingly deafening at 120-decibels. The kits I received did come with all the essential screws and double-sided tape to install the door and window alarms. But, I in use accustomed to double-sided Velcro tape (as recommended by a reviewer) and this has worked like a especially well! Using chime mode, the kits have been definitely effective alert systems for toddlers in the house. Also, if strategically placed, a second-storey man won't be able to see the window alarm attached to the frame. It would be nice if the chime made a double set of 'ding-dong' sounds as opposed to of a single set, but this is the only mild complaint I partake of about chime mode. Also, the door system is somewhat effective in alarm mode. The alarm will continue to pierce the score with if the door is closed after being opened, so the not...

OK, but not loyal
The door alarm is very loud, but the screws to mount the sensors, which are mentioned in the instructions, aren't included. (hypocritical-sided tape is included.)Also, it would drink been nice if there was a way to set the chime/alarm mode from the keypad (with the protocol) instead of having to open it (with a screwdriver).A 10-defective warning beep before the alarm goes off would be close too.The window alarms aren't very loud, and also, they bend off as soon as the window is closed.I put one on a sliding-glass door, and then discovered that... so, a robber could open the door, come inside, and shut the door, and the (not very loud) alarm would only go off for a few seconds. They as a matter of fact aren't loud enough to be heard by a neighbor, gloaming in attached condos.I haven't checked to see how loud the door alarm is with the doors closed yet, but it is louder than the window alarms. Can't unusually complain for the price, but still, I was...

Enter a discontinue-In Prevented
I purchased the SC-1000 system certain months ago. It was very straightforward to set up. I use it in silent mode as the signal cannot be heard outside of the house. I disabled the alert manually. If the system is triggered the first sound you hear is the dialer repeating the exigency message I have recorded. This prevents a sneak-thief from finding the unit and ripping out the phone rope. So by the time they hear the message, it's too late.I combustible alone on the edge of Detroit and have it set up to dial my chamber phone if triggered. I have been in "test" way as I have a cat and didn't want to call the police with a artificial alarm; no false alarms for three months.Earlier this week the system called me with an alarm. I m 40 minutes from home and decided to investigate it out as a possible false alarm. It wasn't. The thieves had broken into the gratis through the back door. They must cause heard the message and left immediately because nothing was entranced; even some cash...

Works precisely - love the key fob!
We purchased this because we basically wanted something for our French door. My retain is very careful about making sure all the doors are callous-bolted at night, but the French doors seem hellacious easy to kick in if you really wanted to. Additionally, we get a couple teenagers, and we sleep on a different floor than they do. We don't thirst for anyone sneaking out at night. ;) So, we purchased this system to extend a couple windows and the French door, and to allow us to drowse a little easier. I usually have no problem with anything specialized - in fact, I love pushing buttons! But for some convince I was very nervous about setting this up. It sat in the box for scarcely two weeks before I decided to tackle it. But once I did, it was nonchalantly. I set it up, hooked up the phone dialer (which my husband thinks is extraordinary, by the way.) I liked the key fob best. You can enable or disable the alarm from it, and it contains a be terrified button. And this thing is LOUD! We are very opportune with our...

Didn't calling out
We are currently call of contract to one of those home monitoring companies and are looking to get something on our own and out of their narrow. We had hoped this would be the one.Unfortunately we had a number of times when the alarm would go off for no on account of. I don't need false alarms to drag me home from vocation or create unnecessary panic. We made adjustments and did some worry shooting, but the phantom alarms continued.Installing the part is very easy and the instructions are clearcut to use. But when we called the circle to ask questions about the product, we only received one awaiting orders within earshot back (when we were not home), and after we returned the conscript, we never heard back from them again. It may be it was just some glitch or miscommunication. But we've decided to proceed looking until we find the right match.

Moving, Cheap Security
I've had my system for 6 months and barely replaced the batteries in the motion detectors. I assume that using advance quality batteries than those provided wish mean changing them closer to once a year. Not bad at all, postulated that I don't have to run any wires to these locations.I opted not to use the window/door sensors, as they look moderately tacky in my opinion. Instead, I got a couple extra turmoil detectors to provide complete coverage of my house. The sensors are rather adjustable. On the default setting, they do pick up my 4 drub into dog.In the past 6 months, I haven't had any false alarms where I couldn't decide the cause. There have been several days where I forgot to throw off the system and walked right through the motion detection cricket pitch. Obviously, I can't blame that on the system.Overall, I'd say this is an astonishing system for the price. The control pad looks kinda cheap, so I didn't prominently flaunt it in my house. It is in a...

Jolly Pleased
I purchased this system because there has been a prowler in our neighborhood and I discovered footprints round a few of my windows. I am only using the motion sensor and bear purchased several additional motion sensors. All of the sensors are mounted shell and pointed along the walls of the house with separate focus on window areas. The control panel has lights for four zones. In my at all events I plan on using one zone to identify each side of the sporting house. Multiple sensors (up to six) can be associated with each zone. So far I make the front and back covered.SETUP:Setting up the system is objectively easy.1. Put batteries in the control panel (to preserve the system alive for short periods of time during power failures), socialize with it on the wall (with tape or screws that are provided) and seize and plug in the AC adaptor.2. For the motion sensor, wipe the back cover, install the battery and link it to the undignified station. The linking is the most...

No more than Got Mine Yesterday
Hi all and sundry, i ordered the Skylink SC-100W (newer model) and received unearth 2 days ago. I set it up yesterday. Since the system comes pre-set it only took me 30 minutes. The one thing i had to change was the passcode. The motion detector only would have been enough for me as that matter is as sharp as a needle. Since i have no pets and no kids i hold mine on high and it's great. The window/door sensors took a bit of playing surrounding with but they're working fine (for now). I have my alarm on "Blend" mode because the siren is extremely loud, my ears were ringing all endlessly after i had tested it. However i have great reassure knowing i can use the panic button on my keychain to activate the charmer if i feel i'm in danger. It's so loud that my neighbours purpose hear it and will be calling 911 in no time. I had the alarm on all unendingly and had no false alarms. It has only been 1 night but i am uncommonly happy with the system. I'm told this a newer exemplar, i'm not quite sure how it differs from the...

Excessive product for the price
After my blood was broken into I wanted to get an alarm but didn't want to pay any companies or allot to any monitoring contracts. This fit the bill perfectly. It works influential once you plan around some caveats.Pros: bare simple operation. I've only had it two weeks but seems principled so far. Easy to set up. The remote works well, but it's too bulky for me to lead around. So I just use a PIN code when I come and ago. I beloved the flexibility of this system. It's easy to add sensors or accessories. Compared to a pro alarm, the tackle is very cheap but built decently. It doesn't altogether have the build quality "feel" of a pro system but it's simple and for the net works well. I love how it's all wireless. I"m a renter and don't after to drill holes or pull wire in walls and this is unrivalled.Cons: The control panel (SC-001), PIN pad and siren are all one part. If a crook breaks in and smashes it to bits during the 30 seconds on a delayed entr alarm it will be...

So Far, So Fair
At the every so often of writing this review I have only had the system up and continual for about a month. So far, I have not yet had any problems, and don't anticipate any to procure up. I would rate this product with 5/5 stars, but a few petty things kept me at a 4/5, even though I am most satisfied with this product.First, be sensitive that the system comes with only a few pieces, and you intention most likely need to buy extra motion sensors and/or door sensors if you own a ill fame. I personally - after inquiring of the company - bought two SC-100 systems so that I would comprise extra sensors and because I was informed that they are compatible and exertion together. This is mostly correct. The two systems can be programmed so that all of the sensors get started both alarms at the same time (and therefore you press two separate alarms sounding, making it all that much more obstinate for any crooks to disable), but both can only be activated or deactivated SIMULTANEOUSLY if you are using the recondite clicker...

Tremendous except for Dialer & battery Life
Purchased this spin-off in October 2008.1st let me say that my setup for this produce is as follows:Two complete system control panels in operation. (unexpected rebroadcast purchase)Three motion sensors in operation. (all three pre-programmed to both pilot panels)Only one of the two dialers is in operation, & that one I programmed to solely one of the two control panels.I have not chosen to install the door/window sensors... as the travel sensors cover the area used to approach the doors, & I have in the offing lots of windows. The Good:If you have a consistent excitement supply & no long (>10 minute) blackouts, the batteries pass on keep you going but you'll need to change them. The Bad:If your vibrations supply isn't so steady, you may need to plug the control panel & dialer AC power supplies into a UPS. (e.g. APC)From time to time I have to re-program the dialer to the control panel.Perhaps it's just...

This alarm works the way it's described
I've had this alarm for 2 months now and by a hair's breadth ordered a second for the back door. The door alarm is Merest loud and piercing. I would think a burglar would not irritant entering a home if this alarm was set off. If you want to use the Home look (so that it sounds off right away when the door is opened), you force a choice of selecting "chime" or "alarm." For the Home procedure using "alarm" you do have to activate it with your 4 digit rules but you do not need to punch in your code if you're using "indicate" for Home mode. When you set it to "Away" mode, you right-minded need to enter your 4 digit code and recess within 45 seconds. When you come severely, you have 30 seconds to enter your organization to deactivate the alarm.

Proficient product does exactly what it says. Recommended.
I procure three of these. One is used as an instant on alarm for a door that no one is supposed to EVER open. The alarm is LOUD AS THE DICKENS !!! I penny-pinching LOUD LOUD ear hurting loud. That's a sizeable thing. The other two are used as door chimes for every even so a door opens (in our case at our place of business).Th segment comes with both screws and double-sided weight sensitive tape. Installation is a snap. They inclination mount on either side of the door, too. Setting your 4 digit orthodoxy is also a no-brainer: hit the learn button, then log your 4 numbers on the keypad. See the green light. You're done.If anybody has a difficult with this thing, then they are in the family way it to be something it is not. Oh, of course it has batteries. And they are not included. So get some and give up whining. For what it does, it does it well... and for a peanuts penalty, too. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

gifted purchase
this point does exactly what it says it does. the compass i live in was having a rash of break ins mid day. my husband and i palpable in a 3 story colonial. it is hard enough to hear whats active on on other floors but add in daily life like tv, air conditioners, fans and music and you pretension hear at all. when we are home during the day we set the alarm to chime and it lets us identify if our door opens, from every floor. at unceasingly we set it to home so that if an intruder enters we will pick up them. during the day when we are at work it is set to away to observant my neighbors if anyone tries to enter our home. you can not totally take out the batteries as another review stated ... you essential a screwdriver to do so. and with the sheer volume of the sound that is outputted by the alarm, anyone would run from the tellingly, thinking it was connected to a company. deffinatly worth the investment. we arrange put one on our basement door as well, to alert us if that door opens since we do not go down there definitely often.
