Grand product and reasonable price
I purchased the MR8-mkII with some trepidation. However, I've grown to conscious of the technical expertise and real world practicality of the merchandise. Should the power go out, the back up batteries work as advertised. The untroubled quality with the headphones is superb. The various characteristic combinations and recording quality far exceeded my expectations. The at most real fault I find with the MR8 is the documentation which accompanies the produce. It's very hard to follow, and is ambiguous (at least for me). Even so, the product is superb, and I highly recommend it for musicians or others who dire great sound reproduction.

Fostex MR8 mkII digital audio recorder
The bed basically line is that this little machine is natural to operate and makes very good recordings. At the sacrifice it's probably a bargain. After using it for many hours and a covey of recording sessions I have these comments:1. The LCD show should be raised and tilted toward the user. You can't see the manifest when seated. If you want to monitor recording levels, etc., you obligation stand all the while you're recording.2. The control knobs and the track fader sliders towards cheap and flimsy. For example, you can easily wiggle the knobs side to side. Also the track fader sliders should deliver more built-in friction to prevent accidental moving. They move too easily.3. The Owner's Vade-mecum, while in general well written and easily accepted, needs to be reviewed and edited by someone who understands, reads, and writes masterly English. There are a number of important explanations in the handbook that are hard to follow and/or understand due to the odd use of words.4...

Before time recording, Easy and good quality
Accurately out of the box I was recording, The booklet is wordy and confusing as all instruction manuals are, but with some fiddling Your worth to go. If you want to record some solo acoustic effects, I highly reccomend this recorder. Do your research, skilled in what mics to use when. Having never recorded in preference to I'm experiencing certain mixing problems, but thats at best for lack of knowledge. This device is easy to use, fun to research with and has started me on my path of home recording. If your a recording noob, the MR8 is for you.

Definitively--an intuitive digital 8-track
After absent a digital multi-track for a long time, I finally unequivocal on this model, and I'm glad I did.One thing that is not included in a inventory of specs is the usability factor. I've purchased my share of electronic devices for making and recording music concluded the years. Just looking at a dry list of specs has over been my method of deciding on what to buy. Well, on analysis the DP-008 looks good, but it's not until you use this to cut a few tracks that you achieve how well it is designed. I'm SOOOO glad I didn't buy the DP-004, as this mock-up is clearly the results of Tascam eliminating the weaker aspects of the 4 track image just in time for the 8 track version.I have seen a lot of digital multi-tracks that look good-hearted on paper, but to use them is a real pain. The fact that the DP-008 has all the characteristic track knobs means that you don't have to go flipping by way of pages on a menu or choosing the "hot track" in some other way. Here it's all laid out...

an architect scales down and gets back to recording
So upstanding as a point of reference, I'm an audio engineer. I went to first to be one and had my own ADAT based project studio for a while afterward. I was trained on buttons and knobs. Previous to, during, and after all that I had home gear that ranged from a boombox to 4-track cassettes, to the aforementioned ADAT, to PC recording. All the while as a musician as much as connive. That said ... I love the 008. It's not complete, but I love it.Features:Brilliant. Compact, all the input options you'd trouble including phantom power, excellent decisions on what to acquire dedicated controls for vs. being menu items (salvage for the EQ, but that's a space hog, so I'm willing to accept the compromise), and potentially uncountable memory.Interface:Considering my background, I'm generally not a fan of PC recording, I tender the tactile nature of buttons and knobs over mice and pointers. And the 008 has instantly recognizeable strap transport control...

Tascam, you've fall a long way baby
My gold medal Portastudio was a cassette tape Tascam 244 circa 1980/81. It was proficient for it's time and I used it so much the record head truly wore down. I moved on to an updated version of the cassette portastudio years later then got away from recording. Now I'm abet into music and recording so I thought I'd give Tascam another manage. I started with the 4 track DP-004 and loved it so much I pronto returned it and ordered the DP-008 which was a wise verdict. This is simply an amazing unit in every way.At beginning I was concerned that the menu driven system with a jog position would be cumbersome and slow but I was very pleasantly surprised. It's intuitive, irresponsibly and powerful. As a former portastudio user the learning curve for me was exclusive of.The ability to easily import/export tracks and swap SD cards between DP-008s (compensate a DP-004 to a DP-008) is nice. The built in reverb is worthy and the condenser mics are excellent. Although you can mixdown and wizard...

Positive Cheap Recording
If you hunger a recorder as a scratch pad for ideas or to practice multiple parts and you don't wish for to pay a lot, this is the product for you. Spend the extra money however, and get the startup pack w/ the tape, headphones, microphone, etc. For $39 bucks more, it's absolutely a deal.

I am chuffed I got this. I ve been thru many... (Tascam 244 80's, Tascam 688, DA 38 etc). You grasp, sometimes the purest easiest lightest quickest sherd of equipment is the best one for writing and/or practicing. Quick spot on? Before the idea goes away! Great for on the go, at a friends diet, outside, even fits in my piano bench!!!. Dont anticipate fancy stuff, the signal you feed is what you get but I predilection that for this purpose. Highly recommended for youthful and old. The basics, but GREAT!

Unpretentious and Useful
I purchased this Tascam recorder to harken to to some 4 track tapes that I made over 10 years ago and it meets my needs remarkably for that. The MF-P01 is a simple 1 input recorder, which I think would be important for capturing a quick run through of a song, and then erection on that one track at a time. The recorder's controls are laid out in a simple and down-to-earth to understand manner, so it's easy to jump right in and start recording. On the off side you have the tape mechanism, with a go crazy open lid, and the familiar tape controls: play, annals, etc. There's also an analog counter, with a reset button, to board track of tape positions. On the left you have the levels and setting controls. The individual volume wheels for each track tease notches indicating the 0 level and are painted diagonally with two dissimilar colors that allows the user to quickly shufty at the dials to see the volume level. The pan and master volume are controlled by variation knobs, that are totally...

low-cost, but you get what you pay for
I ended up having a lot of discommode with skipping when using this boombox, first when using burnt CDs. It also lacks a lot of features such as bass encouragement or a programmable play sequence. The sound is mediocre, but barely acceptable. I'd recommend spending an extra $10-$20 and getting a richer reconsider model.

where is the power line?
This quirk is sold without a power cord. The fine folks at Coby told me it was only for battery intelligence agent. It takes 8 C batteries! I had to pay an additional $9.99 to get a power line from Coby.

You get what you pay for!
We purchased this artefact specifically for the repeat function. We play CDs at night for our children. We purchased one, and the recite function stopped working within the first 30 days. We exchanged it for another, and after two months, the quote function no longer works. It also will not run around the CDs any longer. We are so unhappy with our purchase - don't waste your wealth!

This subject is the business
This is my favorite toy at the blink. I bought it to use it for what it's supposed to be used for - a multitrack recorder. I wanted to track record myself playing rhythm guitar and then do some model over the top.I own a decent Yamaha cassette tape 4-track from the late 80's. How far things get come since then! The DP004 runs from 4AA batteries and fits in the hollow of a pair of baggy shorts. Sure, it's only got 2 audio inputs, no EQ and you can on the contrary record 2 tracks at once, but for the price it's fantastic functionality. The owner guide is well written and very comprehensive - 111 pages in all.If you're demanding to use it to record lectures or other lengthy stereo performances, you've picked the opprobrious tool. It will do it, but it only records in 44.1kbps, 16bit WAV appearance - big files! If you need to record lectures, buy a dictaphone. The supplied 1GB SD greetings card (ATP brand for mine) is only useful for learning how to use the make. I put an 8GB Transcend SDHC card in...

Tascam DP004 Digital Take Studio
I use it for recording acoustic violin and Yamaha P-90 electronics piano.Pro 1: R very well and its compact size.Pro 2: Built-in internal microphone is ripsnorting excepting.Minor Con 1: There is no preamp capability. A phantasm power adapter or preamp is required for most microphones.Lass Con 2: The optional power supply PS-P520 is not a generic 5-volt AC adapter. The DC close up shape is not standard. If AC adapter is not an option to you, you need to dissipate another $20 to $30 on this adapter.Stripling Con 3: The two microphone/line-in inputs are both ¼", not 3-pin XLR. This is not a puzzler for guitars. For XLR microphone, XLR to ¼" adapter is required.
